The business is not you. Most founders struggle to scale because they have fused their identity with the brand.
In the early stages, the founder being the brand is a feature. But as the business grows, this fusion constrains it. Hiring feels impossible because no one can do it the way you do. Delegation feels like quality sacrifice. Stepping back feels like abandonment.
Identify the three decisions only you currently make. Ask what information, criteria, or authority would allow a team member to make those decisions without you. Then give it to them and step back. When the business can function without you, your time becomes choice rather than obligation.
Key Insight: The business is the vehicle. You are the driver, not the engine. The moment you confuse yourself for the machine, you cap the speed at which it can travel.
